How to Join

The Directors Program at the Young Vic is open to any professional young director. It is a unique opportunity to exchange experiences and be part of a network of talented directors working and living in the UK. By young professional director we mean anyone who is:
  • at an early stage of their career (irrespective of age)
  • resident in the UK
  • not in full time education, and over 18
Please do not apply if you do not currently fit the above criteria. International Directors not resident in the UK may apply but will only have access to the relevant parts of the project.

If you have read all the information and are interested in joining the Directors Program, please send the following documents to Sue Emmas, Directors Program, The Young Vic, 66

The Cut, London, SE1 8LZ:
  • a copy of your CV
  • a short letter outlining your experience and telling us why you are interested in the Young Vic and the productions you have seen here.
In addition, please complete and submit the online application form.

You will need to provide an up-to-date photo for the online application. If you have any queries about this please contact us at the email address below. 


The information in your application form will be used to generate a personal profile for you that can be viewed by visitors to the site. You will also be signed up to the members' area of the site, where you will be able to exchange emails with other young directors, be kept up to date with directors' events and amend and update your personal profile. You will receive a username and password by email that will enable you to access this area of the site in the future.

Once all of your information has been received (by post and online), we will process your application, and invite you to attend a group introductory meeting.

It can take up to a month for your membership to become active after sending all the information. If you have any queries, please contact directorsprogramme@youngvic.org.
